Dogs are sloppy drinkers. With those big tongues lapping up water, some of it is bound to spill out and get on the floor. If you have ever stepped on a "doggy puddle" you know that you would not want to do it again. Luckily, there is a way to prevent getting your feet soaked in doggy juice. The answer is a great product I discovered called the Buddy Bowl. The Buddy Bowl is a spill proof water bowl made of plastic. It has a double lid design that traps water inside with a vacuum seal. Dogs can use their tongues to easily get a drink, but if the bowl is knocked, or even flipped over the water will not come out. Additionally, the bowl has a lip that projects inward to catch any tongue splashing. My dogs love these bowls and seem to prefer them to a regular water bowl. I am not sure if an extremely short nosed dog like a pug could handle one of these bowls, but any dog with a normal nose should be fine. They are also great for travelling because you can put them in the car and there is very little, or no, leakage. I have only found these bowls for sale online. Some chain pet stores sell spill proof bowls, but from what I have seen they only have the inner lip, and lack the double top mechanism, and while they work better than a regular bowl, they pale in comparison to the buddy bowl. In this case it is better to get the real thing.
