Home Walmart sells really nice dog beds that don't cost much. The only problem is that you can't wash the material inside the bed and after a while it really smells bad and needs to be cleaned. The solution I have found is to dispose of the dirty stuffing material, wash both the inner and outer covers, then stuff the inner pillow case with pine shavings (not cedar- it's toxic for animals) that is sold for guinea pig cages (also at Walmart). These wood shaving stuffed pillows are soft and absorb the waste liquids and dry quickly. They stay clean smelling for months. They last a long time between cleanings and when it is time to clean, just dump the wood chips out onto the compost pile, wash the pillow covers and refill. |
